Budgetmuze

Terms of use

Last updated 29 October 2026

These are the rules for using Budgetmuze. We've tried to write them in plain language. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them.

Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer

This text is a working draft. Parts marked in yellow are still to be filled in, and nothing here is final until it has been reviewed.

1. What Budgetmuze is, and isn't

Budgetmuze is a tool for tracking your money and reminding you about it. You tell it what you spent, earned, owe and plan, and it adds everything up. It helps you plan; it does not give financial, tax, legal or investment advice.

Budgetmuze is not a bank. It never connects to your bank, never charges or pays a bill for you, and never moves money. When you tick a bill or subscription as done, Budgetmuze records it and recalculates your numbers; the payment itself happens outside the app. Every figure comes from what you enter, so it is only as accurate as that. Exchange-rate figures are estimates from a public source and can differ from what your bank or card charges.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old, or the age at which you can enter a contract where you live.
  • Give us a real email address and keep your password, PIN and sign-in codes to yourself.
  • One account is for one person. You are responsible for what happens in it.
  • Tell us quickly if you think someone else has got into your account.

3. Your records are yours

What you enter belongs to you. We use it to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We never sell it and never show ads.

On every plan you can view, export and delete your own records, due dates and history, and delete your account. We will not lock you out of your own records, whether you are on Free or Premium, and a lapsed subscription never removes anything you created.

4. Free and Premium

Everyday money tracking is free. Premium adds extra features, listed on the pricing page, for a monthly or yearly price.

  • Premium is a subscription paid through Polar. It renews automatically each month or year until you cancel.
  • The price, any tax and the renewal terms are shown at checkout before you pay. If we change a price, we will tell you in advance and it applies from your next renewal.
  • Cancel any time in Settings → Plan & billing. Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your account moves to Free.

5. Tokens and Pip's wardrobe

Tokens are a small in-app currency for Pip's wardrobe: hats, faces, neckwear and colours. They are cosmetic. They never unlock or lock a feature, never affect your records or your money, and nothing in Budgetmuze needs them.

  • You can earn tokens for free: visiting on a new day, keeping a streak and recording something each day.
  • You can also buy tokens with real money, as an optional one-time payment through Polar in Singapore dollars: 100 tokens for S$1.49, 550 tokens for S$4.99 and 1,200 tokens for S$9.99. Prices can change. Any tax is added and shown at checkout, before you pay.
  • Items in the shop are bought directly, for a price shown beforehand. Buying never involves chance. (The free daily visit hands out a random item at no cost.)
  • Tokens have no cash value. They can't be turned back into money, sent or sold to another person, or moved between accounts.
  • We may add, change or retire items and prices. Items you already own stay yours for as long as your account exists.

6. Refunds

  • Subscriptions: cancelling stops future renewals. We don't refund the part of a period that has already started, unless the law says we must.
  • Token packs: tokens are digital items delivered to you straight away, so they are generally not refundable once delivered. If you were charged by mistake, charged twice, or the tokens never arrived, write to us and we will put it right.
  • Nothing here limits any right to a refund that you have under the law where you live.

7. Friends, sharing and split bills

  • Friends connect with a friend code. What a friend can see of you is off until you turn it on in Settings → Friends & sharing, you choose each part, and it never includes money amounts.
  • When you split a bill, the people on it can see that bill. Bank or e-wallet details you save are shown only to people on a bill you split. Only add details you are happy to share with them.
  • You are responsible for what you enter about other people, such as a friend's name on a split. Only add what you have a reason to.
  • You can remove or block a friend at any time.

8. Using Budgetmuze properly

Please don't:

  • break the law with the app, or use it to harass or mislead others;
  • try to get into other people's accounts or data, or probe or disrupt the service;
  • use bots or scripts to farm tokens or to overload the service;
  • copy the service or resell access to it.

If you break these rules we may limit or close your account. We will tell you why, and you can still export your records unless the law or safety prevents it.

9. The service itself

We work to keep Budgetmuze running and correct, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may update, change or retire features. Please keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose; the CSV export in Settings → Your data is there for that.

10. Responsibility

Budgetmuze is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from decisions you make using the figures in the app, or from things we could not reasonably prevent. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, and none of it affects your statutory consumer rights.

11. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Your data. That permanently removes your account and your records. If you have a subscription, cancel it first so you aren't billed again. We may close an account that breaks these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using Budgetmuze after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree, you can export your records and delete your account.

13. Who we are and which law applies

Budgetmuze is run by [operator name and address: to be filled in before launch]. Write to us at [contact email: to be filled in before launch].

These terms are governed by the law of [governing law: to be filled in before launch]. This does not take away any protection that the law of the country where you live gives you as a consumer.
